What is TOGAF and why do we recommend it?

The Open Group defines TOGAF® as a framework - a detailed method and a set of supporting tools for developing IT and Enterprise Architecture.

There are many architecture frameworks, but TOGAF® is unique in containing a method for developing architecture - the TOGAF® Architecture Development Method (ADM). The ADM can be used with other popular frameworks and so we might call it framework-agnostic.

Some companies recommend the use of TOGAF® as a recognised best practice that continues to evolve as an industry standard which provides a professional approach to Enterprise Architecture. TOGAF® has 16,000 certified practitioners and is the most widely adopted EA framework worldwide.  Being customizable, the framework allows Enterprise Architects to tailor it to their organisation’s specific needs.

Attending an accredited Open Group TOGAF® training course means you can rest assured knowing your training will cover all of the material you need to know about TOGAF® 9. Instructors are TOGAF® 9 certified themselves – with many being active in developing TOGAF through the various working groups within the Open Group. This participation allows the instructors to drive enhancements to TOGAF® and remain constantly on top of the latest, most important issues faced by Enterprise Architects.
