What should I do to complete the CompTIA Security+ certification?
The Security+ certification is designed for those working as professionals in the IT security field. This would include roles such as:
- Security architect
- Security engineer
- Security consultant/specialist
- Information assurance technician
- Security administrator
- Systems administrator
- Network administrator
It is a vendor-neutral certification and demonstrates the holder is competent working with cryptography, application, data and host security, compliance and operational security, access control and identity management, threats and vulnerabilities and network security.
Successful candidates will be able to apply an understanding of security procedures, concepts and tools to react to security incidents, and the certification ensures security personnel anticipate risks and guard against them.
It is a very well-regarded qualification and is one of the U.S. Department of Defense's options for certifications required by military personnel or contractors engaged in information assurance activities.
It is recommended candidates have at least two years' technical networking experience and have achieved the Network+ certification. In order to complete the qualification candidates must complete the SY0-301 exam.
