What is the path to becoming a Red Hat Certified Security Specialist?
The Red Hat Certified Security Specialist (RHCSS) qualification demonstrates a high level of skill using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SELinux and Directory Server to achieve the security needs of an enterprise environment.
This certification builds on the skills tested in the RHCE programme and only those who are currently RHCE-certified are eligible to achieve the RHCSS-level qualification.
The programme is split into the following three exams and candidates must pass all three to complete it:
- Red Hat Enterprise Security: Network Services - This is designed for senior Linux system administrators and security professionals and tests the skills required to protect against internal and external attacks. The exam and supplementary training teaches students a more in-depth level of security than the RHCE certification and also looks at the changing aspects of threat models with regard to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Enterprise Directory Services and Authentication - This is aimed at the same audienceand also those looking to integrate mechanisms over various operating systems. It covers deployment of the Red Hat Directory Server, cross-platform integration, configuring and managing LDAP-based services and Pluggable Authentication Modules and their use with authentication-requiring systems.
- SELinux Policy Administration - This is for those involved in Mandatory Access Control security and covers the management, writing, compiling and debugging of policies.
To achieve certification candidates must complete the EX333, EX423 and EX429 exams and it is strongly recommended, though not required, that they complete the appropriate training courses to ensure they have covered all the relevant material.
