What is the path to achieving the JNCIA-IDP certification?

The Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate - Intrusion Detection and Prevention (JNCIA-IDP) certification is an introductory course aimed towards networking professionals with experience in their role and some understanding of IDP products and how to deploy them.

Suitable roles for this qualification include network engineers, support personnel, reseller support and anyone else whose work involves a responsibility for IDP products.

Once certified, holders of the JNCIA-IPD will have a validation of their skills in:

  • Intrusion detection concepts
  • Configuring, operating of an IDP Sensor and command-line utilities
  • Configuring policies, the profiler and other IDP-related rulebases
  • Managing attack objects and creating custom signatures
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting

It is recommended candidates complete the IIDP training course to ensure they have covered all the relevant material and, while it has no specific prerequisites, it is expected candidates will already have knowledge of TCP/IP operation and network security concepts in addition to experience administering network security and UNIX systems. It is also assumed they will have already completed the Security Manager Fundamentals course.

To complete the certification candidates need to pass the JN0-541 exam.
