What are the steps to becoming an RHCDS?
The Red Hat Certified Datacenter Specialist (RHCDS) certification validates a holder has the understanding and ability needed to build manageable solutions with assured reliability, scalability and availability. They will have the skills to do this in mission-critical datacentre environments while utilising Red Hat's fully-supported open source technologies.
To achieve certification candidates must be current RHCEs (while non-RHCEs cannot be certified as an RHCDS, they are free to attend the courses). They will attain the qualification on passing the EX401, EX436 and EX423 or EX318 exams and it is strongly recommended candidates complete the available training courses beforehand to ensure they have covered the relevant material.
The programme is split into three areas covering different aspects of datacentre management:
- Deployment and systems management covers the ideas and methodologies needed for the implementation of large-scale Red Hat Linux systems.
- Clustering and storage management is focused on providing hands-on, lab-based experience with storage management, Red Hat Cluster Suite and the Red Hat Global File System™.
- Directory services and authentication or enterprise virtualisation are dual options giving candidates the choice of the path best-suited to their skills.
- Directory services and authentication is for senior system administrators and covers the skills needed for the management and deployment of the Red Hat Directory Server for and on Red Hat Linux systems.
- Enterprise virtualisation is designed for experienced Linux system administrators and focuses on the virtualisation aspects of Enterprise Linux with the advanced Red Hat Virtualization platform.
