What are the steps to achieve a CCNA - Routing & Switching certification?
The CCNA is the best starting point for those looking to gain Cisco certification as it covers many core areas of other qualifications. It is primarily for those who work installing, setting-up, running and troubleshooting medium-sized routed and switched networks.
The certification allows participants to gain a broader set of skills in network management and to optimise and effectively manage network systems.
The CCNA certification covers a number of areas such as Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol, Routing Information Protocol Version 2, Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay, VLANS, IP, Ethernet and access control lists.
Some of skills displayed by CCNA certified professionals include understanding the requirements for wireless network access, the ability to connect to remote sites via a WAN and the skills to mitigate basic security threats.
To successfully complete the CCNA certification, candidates must pass either the CCNA exam or both of the ICND1 and ICND2 exams. There are two courses available to help prepare for the either exam: Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Parts 1 & 2.
