How can I become a CCEE for Virtualization?
The target audience for the Citrix Certified Enterprise Engineer for Virtualization (CCEE) certification are IT professionals looking for a validation of their skills in a mix of operational planning, integration knowledge and expertise in design.
It is one of the more advanced levels of certification offered by Citrix and requires an high level of both ability and understanding across the full range of Citrix virtualisation solutions.
There are two paths for certification, one for current CCEAs and CCIAs and one for those who have not yet achieved that level of qualification.
For those who are currently certified as CCEAs or CCIAs they must simply pass the A15 exam in order to upgrade to CCEE. However, given the breadth of knowledge required to complete this exam it is strongly recommended candidates have extensive experience working with XenApp 5.0 for Windows Server 2008 - as this is the platform the certification is based on - and have a history of administering the range of Citrix solutions. In order to adequately prepare for the exam they should also complete the Engineering a Citrix Virtualization Solution training course.
Those who have yet to achieve this level of certification must hold current certifications for the following to be eligible to complete the A15 exam:
- CCA for Citrix XenApp 5 for Windows Server 2008 - the CCA for Presentation Server 4.5, XenApp 5 for Windows Server 2003 and XenApp 6 are all acceptable substitutions for this, but as the CCEE is based on Server 2008 it is highly recommended this is the current path candidates should follow.
- CCA for Citrix XenServer 5 - the CCA for Enterprise Edition 4 is also acceptable.
- CCA for Citrix XenDesktop 5 - Enterprise Edition 2, XenDesktop 3 or XenDesktop 4 are also acceptable.
- Pass the A08 exam - those qualified as a CCAA for Citrix XenApp 5 for Windows Server 2008 will already have completed this, but it is not necessary to hold a current CCAA certification, merely to pass the A08 exam.
Once candidates have completed all of the above they will be eligible to complete the A15 exam and achieve certification. For those following this path, it is highly recommended they also complete the Engineering a Citrix Virtualization Solution training course before attempting the exam.
The CCEE certification is valid for three years and can be renewed at any time in that period by completing the latest Engineering a Citrix Virtualization Solution exam.
