For existing managers looking to demonstrate their competence and formalise their training with an officially-recognised qualification, we have several ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) and CMI (Chartered Management Institute) accredited courses.
The Level 2 ILM course in team leading will give you an introduction to management and is ideal for anyone new to the role. The course will teach you techniques for planning and prioritising your team’s workload, it will show you how to recognise workplace problems and will equip you with effective communication skills. The Level 3 award for first line managers goes one step further and is aimed more at people who have already been working in this type of role, but who may not have had any formal training. The Level 3 course will distinguish between leadership and management and will enable delegates to identify and develop their own leadership style. It will take a more in-depth look at the communication process and show you how to build a balanced and successful team.
For experienced first line and middle managers we have several courses in coaching, which will cover the core principles and benefits of coaching, including how to ensure that the members of your team both meet and exceed the targets you set for them, so that you are able to meet your own objectives. We also have courses which focus on business coaching and those that target managers who want to become mentors to their staff. Both will look at the difference between coaching and mentoring, and will look to boost your skills in communication, motivation and dealing with underperformance.
For those currently in a middle management role, why not try our CMI Introductory Diploma. This does not just focus on your people management skills but also looks at your responsibilities to the business and to stakeholders. You will be taught how to analyse business information and present a recommendation effectively, and you will also learn how to identify stakeholder requirements and put together business plans to meet them. Preparing your own personal development plan and helping others to develop and learn effectively are also covered with this course.
